Happy Week 6 of the Winter CSA! We are more than halfway through the season, have you purchased your spring share yet? CSA purchases this time of year are immensely helpful in preparing for spring. Pre-season can be one of the most expensive times for farmers who need to purchase seed and supplies for the upcoming season, in spite of winter cash flow being a fraction of what it is in the high season. In fact, this is what lead to the birth of the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) model! Your support is greatly appreciated, year round!
Around the farm these days we are getting ready for the approaching cold snap, all the while hoping it won’t last long! That means harvesting in the garden when the weather is fair — digging carrots, picking kale, cutting cilantro. We have also tucked in all of our nursery plants so they will be cozy until spring. Every bed we free up in House 1 is replanted immediately. On a farm, there are always repairs and tidying up to do, and we really love watching the days grow longer this time of year!
We hope you are staying busy, happy, and healthy in 2019.
All of our best to you!
